CANFIELD — The Mahoning County sheriff charged two more people in relation to a suspected prostitution ring.
Sheriff Randall Wellington said Melissa Mang, 23, and Mike Fayne, 27, two employees at the Canfield Colonial Motel, 7815 Akron-Canfield Road, were charged Monday morning with procuring prostitution.
This means both Mang and Fayne were aware of the illegal activity but continued to rent out rooms. Wellington said they both reside at the motel.
Canfield detective Brian McGivern said Canfield Colonial and El Patio Motel at 485 W. Main St. have been the subject of many complaints over the past 10 years.
He said the investigation began, with the help of the sheriff’s department, after a complaint of solicitation for sex at El Patio.
The deputy sheriffs served a search warrant Thursday afternoon at Canfield Colonial while Canfield police searched El Patio.
Arthur Klein, 67, owner of both motels; Patricia Jordan, 51, El Patio manager; and Mark Dean Sr., 45, an El Patio employee, were charged Friday by Canfield police as a result of the search, coupled with an eight-week investigation.
Klein, charged with promoting prostitution; Dean, charged with soliciting prostitution; and Jordan, charged with procuring prostitution, will appear for hearings at 5 p.m. Wednesday in Mahoning County Area Court.
