State Budget proposal What’s in, what’s out
Some of the highlights of Ohio House Democrats’ revised version of Gov. Ted Strickland’s two-year budget proposal:
Hospitals lose $127 million instead of $411 million because of higher fees that trigger more federal Medicaid money.
Increase money for nursing homes.
Increase aid to food banks to $9.5 million each year; Strickland had proposed $8.5 million a year.
Overhaul Strickland’s school-funding formula to funnel more money to the poorest school districts.
No gambling proposal. Strickland’s version didn’t include one either.
