Big A feature

NEW YORK — Reptilian Smarts extended his winning streak to six Sunday, drawing off to a 31‚Ñ4 length win over Don Misil in the $48,000 allowance feature at Aqueduct.

The 5-year-old, ridden by Joseph Berrios, bided his time along the rail in the early stages before splitting horses to reach the outside for the stretch run. After starting his career with only two wins in 15 races, Reptilian Smarts reeled off the six straight wins since trainer Rick Dutrow Jr. claimed him for $15,000 in November.

The 9-5 favorite ran the 1 1-8 miles in 1:51.09 on the fast track, paying $8.10, $4.50 and $3.30. Don Misil returned $7.20 and $4.90. Bobby Sands paid $5.10 to show.

Man United falls

WEMBLEY, England — Tim Howard has stopped two penalty kicks to give Everton a 4-2 shootout victory over Manchester United and its first FA Cup final appearance in 14 years.

The teams had drawn 0-0 through extra time at Wembley on Sunday before the American goalkeeper blocked shots from Dimitar Berbatov and Rio Ferdinand to help put Everton into next month’s final against Chelsea.

Defender Phil Jagielka then scored the winning kick, with only Tim Cahill missing for Everton.

A United team mostly composed of reserves had been marginally the better side through regular time, but needed goalkeeper Ben Foster to stop an extra time shot to the far post by Cahill.
