Eagle award ceremony

William Chuirazzi, son of Dr. and Mrs. Christopher Chuirazzi, 2027 Timber Creek Drive, Cortland, received his Eagle Scout Award at a court-of-honor ceremony earlier this month at Candlelight Knolls in Bazetta.

His Eagle Scout service project involved the creation of a community bulletin board, five wooden seats and eight signposts for Ohio State University Extension/Trumbull County Master Gardener Program, under the direction of Susan Berlin.

Chuirazzi is a member of Western Reserve Council, Arrowhead District, Boy Scouts of America Troop 54, where he has served as librarian, assistant senior patrol leader, assistance patrol leader and troop guide.

He is a junior at Lakeview High School, where he is a member of the Ski Club, Spanish Club, National Honor Society, band and the baseball team. He also is a member of First Presbyterian Church of Warren.

Ohio 4-H Volunteer award

Barbara McKarns of Hanoverton in Columbiana County was recently awarded the Ohio 4-H Volunteer award for meritorious service.

The award recognizes adult 4-H volunteers for long-term meritorious service or a significant contribution to county or state 4-H programs.

McKarns was one of four meritorious service honorees at the Bob Evans Farms Ohio 4-H Volunteer Recognition Luncheon at the Greater Columbus Convention Center.

More than 300,000 young people are enrolled in Ohio 4-H programs led by about 37,000 volunteers. Ohio 4-H is part of Ohio State University Extension.
