Happy 100th birthday Virginia Valenzisi


Born: April 21, 1909, in Youngstown, a daughter of Carmel and Salvatore Morella.

Siblings: She had five siblings; only one survives, Joseph Calipare of Youngstown.

Residence: Lives in North Lima with daughter and son-in-law, Dolly and Dave Crump, in her own apartment.

Spouse: Widowed in 1993, when her husband, Frank, died. They were married in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church.

Children: Three children: Dolly (Dave) Crump, Frank (Carol) Valenzisi, and Claire Patoray.

Grandchildren: Family includes 13 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and six great-great grandchildren.

Activities: Attends the Easter Seals Adult Day Care Program daily.

Church membership: Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Youngstown, where she and her husband were very active. She was a member of the Mothers of the Crucifix Society, and used to bake bread and pizza, which were sold at the church’s bingo games.

Honors: In 2002, she was named Woman of the Year by the Greater Youngstown Italian Fest

Celebrations: Easter Seals will honor her with a birthday party at 2 p.m. Tuesday. On Saturday, a 5 p.m. Mass at the church will honor her, and a dinner party will follow in the Lower Church Hall.
