Clippers tame Tigers

COLUMBIANA — Eric Kissel singled and doubled, Matt Douglas had two hits and Tyler Denmeade had two RBIs as the Columbiana High baseball team handed Springfield its first loss, 6-3, on Thursday.
Josh Saverko pitched six strong innings for the win. Jeff Davidson got the save for the Clippers (6-3, 4-1 Inter Tri-County League Tier One).
Todd Kibby (2-1) went the distance with five strikeouts for Springfield (7-1, 4-1). He also had two hits, including a double.
McDonald 17, South Range 5
NORTH LIMA — McDonald struck for nine runs — including a grand slam by Anthony Raschilla — in the first inning to take control. Raschilla finished 3-for-4 with a double and seven RBIs.
The Raiders mustered some offense together behind Zach Nagy, who had a double, and Joe Sarisky. Sarisky, who finished 2-for-2 with a double and two RBIs.
Massillon Jackson 8, Fitch 2
MASSILLON — Chris Miller had two hits for the Falcons (4-1, 2-1 Federal League).
For the Polar Bears (7-0, 3-0), Casey Irwin had three hits while winning pitcher Matt Rabbit had a two-run single.
Campbell 11, Lowellville 4
STRUTHERS — Winning pitcher Niko Magnolia scattered six hits and struck out 11 batters for the Red Devils (2-2). He also had a two-run single. George Fasline’s three hits included a double. He scored two runs and drove in three.
Pizzaro’s three hits included a double and he scored three runs.
For the Rockets, Brian Rossadivata had two hits.
Hubbard 10, Salem 0
SALEM — Matt Shelton pitched a three-hit shutout and struck out six batters to lead Hubbard (4-4). Shelton also had a pair of doubles and scored three runs. Dan Helsel and Mike Lopuchovsky each had three hits, Tommy Jackson had two hits including a triple and Tim Shiraldi added two hits and two RBIs for the Eagles.
Alex Whinnery had two of the three hits for the Quakers (0-5).
Kent 6, Southeast 0
RAVENNA — Jack Maynard homered while Kyle Morden and Jacob Miller doubled for the Roughriders (5-2, 3-0 Portage Trail Conference). Anthony Cianci had two hits for the Pirates (1-4, 0-3).
Mathews 12, Lordstown 0
LORDSTOWN — Jake Swank tossed a one-hitter with 11 strikeouts and no walks to lead Mathews (5-0, Northeastern Athletic Conference 3-0). Swank also went 3-for-3, while Rick Sommers, Nate Brown and Jared Smith each added two RBIs.
