Vienna Amvets auxiliary is having bake sale today

VIENNA — Vienna Amvets Post 290 is having its annual bake sale today from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the post, 290 Youngstown-Kingsville Road. The wrong date was published in the food sales listing Wednesday.

Cookies, cakes, breads, pies, brownies and candy will be for sale. Proceeds go to the Ladies Auxiliary, which raises funds for St. Jude’s, scholarships, military members and other causes. Donations may be sent to Vienna Amvets Post 290 Ladies Auxiliary at the above address.

Antique Tractor Club plans Plow Day

KINSMAN — The Antique Tractor Club of Trumbull County is having a Plow Day on April 18 at Tricker Farm, 7246 Kinsman-Nickerson Road, 2 miles east of Kinsman.

Tractors can start unloading at 9 a.m., and the plowing will begin at 10. There will be draft horses and lawn tractors plowing also. You must be a member to plow, and you can join that morning. Cost is $12 per single membership or $14 per family.

Geneva College to host 15-mile bike ride

BEAVER FALLS, Pa. — To conclude the yearlong celebration of its 160th anniversary, Geneva College will host a 15-mile Fun Ride for students, faculty, staff, alumni and community members on April 18. This bicycle ride, part of the college’s Founders Day celebration, will begin at 3 p.m. at Maxwell China in East Palestine, Ohio, on Ohio SR 14, and end at the Geneva campus in Beaver Falls.

Advance registration is required at $15, but sign-ups on the day of the ride are possible for $20. All registered participants get a T-shirt and a ride packet. For more information visit www.geneva.edu/object/fun_ride.

Scrapbooking event to benefit cancer society

MERCER, Pa. — A Scrapbook Day from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. April 25 at Wayside Community Church, 1191 Mercer Grove City Road, will be a benefit for the Relay for Life of the American Cancer Society.

There will be prizes, a creative memories consultant, a scrapbook consultant, and a Stamp it Up! consultant.

Date is changed for golf tournament

HUBBARD — The date for St. Patrick School’s annual Scramble for Education Golf Tournament has been changed to May 23. The four-person scramble will begin with a shotgun start at 2:30 p.m. at Pine Lakes Golf Course.

Registration begins at noon and $75 per person or $300 per team includes lunch at 12:30, golf cart, dinner and beverages. There will be a Hole-in-One prize of a 2009 car from Greenwood Chevrolet.

Scramble to benefit special needs children

HERMITAGE, Pa. — The Children’s Center of Mercer County, 900 N. Hermitage Road, has scheduled its 2009 Scramble for Skills golf outing for June 22 at the Greens of Greenville. The event will begin with registration at 9:30 a.m. and a shotgun start at 11.

The cost will be $320 per team and includes lunch at the turn, dinner after golf, cash prizes and awards. The price of the dinner only is $25. Sponsorships of $750, $320, and $100 are available. To be included in brochures, sponsorships are required by June 12.

Children’s services expanded at library

WARREN — Warren-Trumbull County Public Library has undergone a reorganization that will strengthen and enhance library services for children. Members of the children’s staff from the main and branch libraries have combined into one department.

Lori Faust of Boardman has been named manager of the new Youth Services Department. Amanda L.S. Murphy has been named assistant manager of Youth Services.

Movie and a class

POLAND — Poland United Methodist Church, 1940 Boardman Poland Road, invites the public to a special movie showing. “Fireproof,” about a firefighter and his wife, and a marriage worth saving, will be screened at 7 p.m. Sunday. A six-week class on strengthening your marriage will begin April 22.

Free health program

NILES — WellnessOne and Weight Watchers plan a presentation, “It’s Your Future, Be There Healthy,” at 5:30 p.m. at the Niles Mall View Plaza Center on April 17.

Golf outing to raise funds for Special Olympics

CORTLAND — Tamer Win Golf Course, 2940 Niles-Cortland Road NE, will be the setting May 30 for the fourth annual golf outing sponsored by Mahoning County Public Special Olympics.

Registration at 8 a.m. will be followed by breakfast, and the 18-hole scramble will begin with a shotgun start at 9. There will be a box lunch, and dinner after golf. First-, second- and third-place prizes will be awarded, and there will be skill prizes, skins, Mulligans and a 50-50 drawing.
