Sept. 29 SEmD Kelly Pavlik knocks out Jermain Taylor in the seventh round to win the WBC and WBO middleweight titles.

Oct. 23 — Taylor exercises rematch clause with Pavlik. Bout is eventually set for Feb. 16 at nontitle catch weight of 166 pounds.

Nov. 8 — Pavlik injures hands and arms trying to clean the windows at his Boardman home. He needs more than 20 stitches to close the wounds.

Dec. 27 — The Boxing Times names Pavlik “Fighter of the Year.”

Feb. 16 — Pavlik defeats Jermain Taylor by unanimous decision.

Feb. 22 — Irishman John Duddy sustains severe cuts in a lackluster win over Walid Smichet, shelving plans for a Pavlik-Duddy bout.

March 2 — Pavlik introduces Hillary Clinton at a Democratic rally in Austintown.

March 5 — Top Rank Boxing announces plans for Pavlik to face Gary Lockett in first title defense June 7 in Atlantic City.

June 7 — Pavlik defeats Gary Lockett by third-round TKO in first title defense.

July 16 — Pavlik loses Fighter of the Year ESPY to Joe Calzaghe.

July 1 — Pavlik files police report over threats made by a former associate. The investigation ends without an arrest.

July 17 — Top Rank Boxing announces plans for a Pavlik bout with Bernard Hopkins on Oct. 18 in Atlantic City.

July 18 — Pavlik marries longtime girlfriend Samantha Kocanjer in private ceremony in Hawaii.

Aug. 9 — Team Pavlik falls to Team Media in charity softball game at Cene Park.

Aug. 27 — Pavlik appears with Bernard Hopkins at pre-fight pep rally at the Chevrolet Centre.
