STATE PATROL

Promoted to lieutenant

John C. Altman of the Ohio State Highway Patrol Canfield Post has been promoted to the rank of lieutenant by Col. Richard H. Collins, patrol superintendent. Altman will transfer to the Toledo Post to serve as post commander.

Altman began training as a member of the 131st Academy Class in April 1998. He earned his commission in October of that year and was assigned to the Ravenna Post, where, in 2001 and 2003, he was named Post Trooper of the Year.

In November 2003, he was promoted to the rank of sergeant and transferred to the Ashtabula Post to serve as an assistant post commander. In September 2005, he transferred to the Hiram Post on the Ohio Turnpike. A year later he transferred to the Canfield Post.

Altman graduated from Youngstown State University in August 2001 with a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice. He lives in Austintown with his wife, Martha, and their three children.
