AAC ROUNDUP: Lakeview, Liberty, Howland, Campbell and LaBrae are winners

NEWTON FALLS — Lakeview High’s Ben Moody had a record-breaking night, leading the Bulldogs over Newton Falls, 42-7.

Moody set a school record with 341 yards rushing, including a school-record 91-yard run for a touchdown, and his five TDs tied a school record.

Moody also scored from 1, 26, 42 and 58 yards, all in the first half, as the Bulldogs (4-2) led 35-0 at the intermission.

Te Elias also scored for Lakeview, which rushed for 451 yards as a team.

Eric Kline caught a 13-yard scoring pass from Brian Sole for Newton Falls’ (2-3) only score. Sole was 8-for-15 for 122 yards; Joe Ziegler caught five passes for 79 yards.

Liberty 35, Champion 0

LIBERTY — Fitzgerald Toussaint continued his torrid rushing and scoring pace, finishing with 282 yards on 14 carries and scoring all five TDs for the Leopards (6-0).

Toussaint’s scoring runs covered 9, 33, 63, 65 and 75 yards.

Tommy Stroup rushed 10 times for 49 yards to lead the Golden Flashes (2-4) while Chris Nicopolis added 45 yards on 13 carries.

Liberty finished with 375 total yards to Champion’s 155.

Howland 42, Beaver Local 0

HOWLAND — Howland quarterback Matt Preston had two passing touchdowns and another rushing score.

Preston hooked up with receiver Tyler Scott on a 32-yard score in the second quarter and a 40-yarder in the third.

Preston’s rushing touchdown came in the third quarter on a 40-yard run. Preston finished going 10-13 for 169 yards with no interceptions and the two scores.

Beaver Local struggled to get anything going. The Beavers utilized three quarterbacks, but didn’t have much success. Dustin Sprouse completed his only attempt for 6 yards to Nick Marshall.

Campbell 21, Salem 20

SALEM — The Red Devils, behind 20-6, rallied for 15 points in the fourth quarter to hand the Quakers their sixth straight loss.

Campbell’s (2-4) Alex Lopez returned a punt 45 yards for a touchdown and he kicked the extra point to deficit 20-13 with 10:28 remaining.

Darrio Bivens then scored on a 36-yard run and Lesther Hughes ran over a two-point conversion to give the Red Devils the lead 21-20.

The Quakers got the football back on their own 35 yard line with eight minutes remaining. They marched down field to the Campbell 8-yard line in 12 plays, where the Red Devils stopped them with 2:21 left. Campbell then ran out the clock.

Bivens gained 97 yards on 11 attempts for Campbell, while Eric Bailey of Salem, who scored on a 4-yard run, gained 100 yards on 18 rushes.

LaBrae 20, Struthers 6
