MCCAIN UPDATE: Palin tells crowd at airport: ‘We are going to win’

VIENNA — John McCain and Sarah Palin were greeted by a long and loud round of applause when they took to the stage about 4:20 p.m. today at Winner Aviation hangar at Youngstown-Warren Regional Airport.

Palin acknowledged that wining the election “will be a real hard fight.”

“It will be a battle in Ohio, but John McCain and I are ready, and we are going to win,” she said.

Palin took a number of shots at U.S. Sen. Barack Obama of Illinois, the Democratic presidential nominee, without specifically mentioning his name.

“Some use change to promote their career, then there is John McCain who has used his career to promote change,” Palin said.

The Alaska governor criticized Obama’s plan for change by saying he would increase taxes that would destroy small businesses.

“He’d make today’s bad economy look like the good old days” if he was elected, she said.

“With your vote, we are going to Washington, D.C., to shake things up.”
