Deltas will honor Black Excellence

GIRARD — Members of the Youngstown Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. will present their 7th Annual Tribute to Black Excellence on Sept. 26 at the Mahoning Country Club, 710 Liberty St. S.E.

A social hour with open bar will be from 6 to 7 p.m., and dinner will be served at 7:30. The donation is $40 per person, and attire is semiformal. After dinner, there will be dancing to a disc jockey and a cash-only Chinese auction.

Local residents who have made a difference in the community with their public service will receive awards. Recipients include the Rev. Lewis Macklin, for community awareness; Douglas Franklin, political awareness; Dr. Wendy Webb, educational awareness; Dr. Rodney Hill, physical and mental health; Rhonda Owens, economic development; and Vince Shivers, international awareness.

Committee members are Michele Dotson, Nancy Murray, Annette Jones, Fawn Allison, Lynette Sutton, Eboni Williams, Gail Manigault-Waters, Sherri Lovelace-Cameron and Crystal Davis. Nikki Davis handled publicity.
