The son of Virgil and Minerva Gilea has been in jail in the custody of U.S. immigration officials for 10 months. He and his family are pleading that he not be deported to Romania. The case:

1990: Virgil and Minerva Gilea emigrate from Romania to the U.S.

1994: Their children, Chip and Bianca, join them.

1994: Virgil and Minerva buy their home in Boardman.

2004: Chip begins working at Energy Development Inc., Poland.

2006: Chip buys a home in Austintown.

Dec. 27, 2007: Chip is arrested at work by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents.

Tuesday: Chip, jailed, is told he will have a contact visit Saturday with his family.
