YOUNGSTOWN — Three men were arrested on gun and drug charges after police said the driver breezed through a stop sign on the South Side.
Arraigned Wednesday in municipal court were:
UJames Neail, 24, of East Warren Avenue. He is charged with having a weapon under disability, based on a prior conviction preventing him from having a gun, and carrying a concealed weapon. He was also wanted on an outstanding warrant in a driving-under-suspension case.
UMaurice Morris, 25, of Hollywood Avenue. He is charged with improper handling of a firearm in a motor vehicle and possession of drugs.
UAntonio Whitfield, 26, of Hickory Street. He is charged with possession of drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was also wanted on a warrant out of Liberty charging him with receiving stolen property.
Members of the Street Crimes Unit followed the car Morris was driving after it left a known drug house on Willis Avenue around 10 p.m. Tuesday. When he failed to stop for the stop sign at Overland Avenue, police pulled the car over.
A scale, a loaded 9mm handgun and suspected crack cocaine were found in the car.
