Walk to support homeless scheduled in Sharon

SHARON, Pa. — The public is invited to a prayer vigil and walk to raise awareness and support for the homeless and the agencies which serve them.

Sponsored by the Mercer County Housing Coalition, “Walk a Mile in Their Shoes” will begin with registration at 4 p.m. Sunday in the parking lot of Reyer’s Shoes. The prayer vigil will begin at 4:30 p.m. and those attending wil then walk a mile carrying candles. The group, which already has 130 people registered, will walk past 205 Bank Place, the site of a soon-to-open shelter for men, Joshua’s Haven. They will then return to the Reyer’s parking lot to finish the prayer vigil. Sherry Masotto Swetz of Joshua’s Haven said that two women who participated in Project Ruth, a program of Farrell’s Prince of Peace Center, will give testimony about their former homelessness.

The Mercer County Housing Coalition represents several service agencies.
