Trade food for library fines

NEWTON FALLS — The six member libraries of the Trumbull Independent Public Libraries Consortium are sponsoring the third annual Food for Fines drive Friday through Nov. 30. The six members — Bristol Public Library, Girard Free Library, Hubbard Public Library, Kinsman Free Library, McKinley Memorial Library, and Newton Falls Public Library — will allow people who owe fines for overdue materials to bring cans of food or other nonperishable food items to the library in exchange for having their overdue fines eliminated.

Donations must be made to the circulation desk and must be designed for sale as a package. The following will not be accepted: glass containers, opened, dented or expired items, alcoholic beverages, canned or bottled beverages (water, juice, pop, etc.) candy or U.S. government food products.

Food will not be accepted for lost and/or damaged library materials. All donated food items will be donated to food banks in their community.
