Joint effort leads to arrests in Boardman

BOARDMAN — Within minutes of a news conference announcing a multi-jurisdictional law enforcement effort to target crime in and around the Market Street corridor, township police arrested two people.

Officials from the township, Youngstown, Ohio State Highway Patrol and the Mahoning County Sheriff’s office announced Wednesday that the entities will work together using the First Place Bank building at Market and Midlothian Boulevard as a base, targeting the area.

Shortly after the event ended, police stopped Patrell M. Scott, 18, Park Vista Drive, Youngstown, who was driving a vehicle that didn’t have a license plate displayed.

Scott was charged with carrying a concealed weapon, drug trafficking and possession of drug paraphernalia. Police found a gun, prescription drugs and a scale in the car.

Shantae C. Moore, 23, of Glenwood Avenue, Boardman, was arrested in a separate traffic stop also shortly after the news conference.

A police officer ran the registration of the vehicle she was driving on Market and discovered a warrant for assault, stopped the car and arrested her.
