While no one knows for sure what lurks in the dark corners of each of these places, tales of the unexplained have been reported. For a self-guided ghost tour, follow our lead — if you dare.

WICK MANSION, intersection of Wick Avenue and the eastbound U.S. Route 422 service road, Youngstown — The ghost of Mary Wick, whose husband, George Dennick Wick, perished on the Titanic, is said to roam the house, restlessly awaiting her husband’s return.

CORTLAND OPERA HOUSE, 152 Park Ave., Cortland — According to rumors, the spirit of Solomon Kline, who owned the opera house, only makes himself known to those who share his last name.

KILCAWLEY HOUSE, YSU campus near Kilcawley Center — The ghost of a janitor who hanged himself in a stairwell of the dormitory is said to roam the sixth floor.

SWEENEY HALL, YSU campus near Kilcawley Center — The YSU administration building, which used to be a church, is supposedly haunted by the ghost of a priest who killed himself in the basement.

WARREN CITY HALL, 391 Mahoning Ave., Warren — One story is that the ghost of Henry Bishop Perkins, Warren’s founder, haunts the attic of the Perkins Mansion, where Perkins hanged himself. The mansion is now City Hall.

FIRST COVENANT CHURCH, 5210 Glenwood Ave., Youngstown — The church is possibly haunted by voices, cold spots and the sound of chain saws. A blurry figure is said to have been seen sitting in a corner.
