Education board approves teacher’s resignation

BOARDMAN — The board of education approved the resignation of Scott Hunter, the Boardman High School teacher who resigned amid allegations of inappropriate text messages to a female student.

Hunter tendered his resignation Sept. 30, citing personal reasons.

At a meeting Monday, the board accepted his resignations as a high school math teacher and as the high school Quiz Bowl adviser.

Hunter, of Boardman, a 2007 graduate of Youngstown State University, was in his second year of teaching. His salary this year was $33,721.

The board also approved the donations for the district’s elementary schools, middle schools and high school from Target’s Take Charge of Education initiative.

More than $1,000 was donated and will go to Robinwood Lane Elementary, Stadium Drive Elementary, Glenwood Middle School and the high school.

Another donation accepted at the meeting was from Office Max to Stadium Drive as part of A Day Made Better Program. The donation was for classroom supplies valued at more than $1,000.
