Antioch church is site of Baptist convention

YOUNGSTOWN — The Eastern Ohio, Western Pennsylvania and Northern West Virginia Baptist District Association will meet today through Friday at Antioch Baptist Church, 110 Funston St.

The Rev. Ernest Ellis is district moderator and host pastor. The theme is “Maturing in God’s Grace.”

Guest preachers and lecturers will be Pastor T.J. Thomas of Mount Zion Baptist Church in Toledo, Pastor I.T. Bradley of New Beginnings Full Gospel Baptist Church in Mansfield, and Pastor Avan M. Odom of New Fellowship Baptist Church in Warren.

Tonight’s opening-night service will feature the district choir in concert. A banquet Wednesday will honor past district moderator, the Rev. Raymond Mason, pastor of New Horizon Baptist Church of Massillon.

Phyllis Bolling, the women’s president, will give the address Thursday. The Rev. Mr. Ellis will speak Friday night.

Morning sessions will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday through Friday and afternoon sessions at 1:30 and 3 p.m. For information, contact Antioch Baptist. Sessions are open to the public.
