YOUNGSTOWN — Wick Neighbors Inc. with Youngstown State University and Turning Technologies invites all Wick District neighbors, friends and the general public to a town hall meeting at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Butler Institute of American Art, Wick Avenue.

The meeting will provide updates on the status of the Wick District-Smoky Hollow development and WNI neighborhood revitalization initiatives.

The development includes up to 300 housing units; 20,000 square feet of commercial development; 6,300 square feet of institutional expansion; new parks and other area improvements.

Free Medicaid seminar

YOUNGSTOWN — The Alzheimer’s Assistance and Referral Network is offering a free Medicaid seminar from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Monday in the meeting room of the Boardman Public Library, 7680 Glenwood Ave. Presenter is Atty. New parking lot to open

YOUNGSTOWN — Construction of a new parking lot at Stambaugh Auditorium on Fifth Avenue on the city’s North Side has been completed. A ribbon-cutting ceremony at 4 p.m. Monday will mark its opening. The new lot — the auditorium’s third — is on the west side of the building.

Warriors Inc. plans ice cream social

YOUNGSTOWN — Warriors Inc. is having an ice cream social to create a time for mentor connection from 4 to 7 p.m. next Sunday at the Youngstown Christian School, 4401 Southern Blvd. The event is open to youths ages 14 to 21 already registered for the Warriors Inc. mentor program and also those wanting to register. Unregistered youths must be accompanied by a parent.

Mentors can talk to other mentors, and youths can see that there are other kids like them being guided, she said. Activities will include the Youngstown State University Sorority and Fraternity Step Teams and line dancing.

Toy giveaway sign-up for needy children

YOUNGSTOWN — Nevels Temple Church, 939 Elm St., will have a Christmas toy giveaway for needy children for the first 35 families that sign up. Children must be no older than age 17.

People must sign up between 1 to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the church. Applicants must have a valid picture ID (not expired); proof of whole household income and proof of guardianship of children (medical card, Job and Family Services printout, court papers or birth certificates).
