GIRARD — His Music Connection will host Early Harvest band of Garrettsville and Emmaus of Niles during a coffee house from 6 to 10 p.m. Nov. 1 in the former Wellman theater, 29 W. Liberty St. His Music Connection band also will play. There will be free refreshments.

Program on compassion

McDONALD — First Baptist Church, 602 Illinois Ave., is sponsoring a program designed to exercise biblical principles of compassion. Participants will be encouraged to express, in some way, an act of compassion for others in need. The program is under way and continues through Nov. 23. Services are at 9:45 and 10:45 a.m. and 6 p.m. Sundays and at 7 p.m. Wednesdays. Transportation is available by calling the church at (330) 530-8835.

Guild anniversary

YOUNGSTOWN — The St. Anne Guild of Holy Trinity Ukrainian Catholic Church, 526 W. Rayen Ave., will celebrate its 50th anniversary Sunday at St. George’s Croatian Home on Vestal Road. Guest speaker will be Monsignor Archpriest Leo Adamiak, who founded the organization. The group originated the pirogi project, which continues.

PPC events

YOUNGSTOWN —Professionals Partnering with Christ will hold a Christmas celebration dinner instead of its usual lunch. The event will be from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Dec. 4 at the Youngstown Club. Guests are welcome. The cost is $25. Reservations are due at the group’s next luncheon, Nov. 6 at the club.

Women’s Day event

YOUNGSTOWN — Price Memorial African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church, 920 Dryden Ave., will hold a Women’s Day Celebration at 11 a.m. Sunday. The theme is “Destiny of Women” with speaker, evangelist Selena S. Regues. Chairwoman is Mary Robinson and co-chairwoman, Venicee Howell.

Guest speaker

EAST PALESTINE — Elder Ruth Cole will be the guest speaker at First United Presbyterian Church, 109 W. Rebecca St., at the service at 10:30 a.m. Sunday. She is a member of New Lisbon Presbyterian Church, where her father pastored many years. A retired high school English teacher, she has taken classes at Pittsburgh Theological Seminary.

Worship seminar

COLUMBIANA — The Upper Room Fellowship will sponsor a worship seminar, "The Power of His Presence: Worship that Transforms,” from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 1 at 500 Sponseller Road. Gospel concert

NORTH LIMA — Living Proof, a gospel group, will present a concert at 6 p.m. Nov. 2 at North Lima Mennonite Church, 90 Mennonite Drive. The gospel singing team of eight young men and women is based in Knoxville, Tenn.

All Souls Day Mass

LOWELLVILLE — An All Souls Day Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Nov. 2 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery, 3900 Villa Maria Road, by the Rev. John Jerek of St. John the Baptist Church in Campbell. Refreshments will follow.

Church anniversary

YOUNGSTOWN — Mount Zion Baptist Church, 827 Wilson Ave., will mark 88 years of service during a program at 4 p.m. Sunday. The Rev. Dr. Robert C. Robinson and Friendship Baptist Church of Washington, Pa., will be guests. The theme is “Faith is an Action Word,” Hebrews 11:1-3. The Rev. Jack W. Pettis is host pastor.

Super Saturday for kids

BOARDMAN — St. James Church, 7640 Glenwood Ave., will sponsor its second free Super Saturday for children. The event, planned from 9:30 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. Nov. 8, is for children who have completed kindergarten through sixth grade.

The theme for the day will be “Learning to be Grateful and Thankful and Showing it by Being Generous.” The event was inspired by the book “Grateful: A Song of Giving Thanks” by John Bucchino, from the Julie Andrews Collection. Activities will include storytelling, games, crafts and discussion. Children will also learn to sing a portion of the song “Grateful.” Lunch will be provided.
