Bankruptcy judge grants more time to Delphi Corp.

NEW YORK — A bankruptcy judge on Thursday gave Delphi Corp. more time to modify its plan to emerge from bankruptcy protection without the input of its creditors.

Judge Robert Drain of U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Manhattan approved a motion from the Troy, Mich.-based auto supplier that gives it until the end of January to file its plan while staving off alternative proposals from creditors. The company previously had a deadline of Oct. 31.

GM workers in Moraine approve contract

MORAINE, Ohio — Workers at a General Motors factory in Moraine that is scheduled to close in December have approved a contract that offers buyouts, early retirement and transfer rights.

The contract passed 993-82, according to the International Union of Electronic Workers-Communication Workers of America Local 798. About 1,000 people work at the Dayton-area plant, which produces sport-utility vehicles.

The union said Thursday that workers with 10 years’ seniority or more will be offered $140,000. Those with less than 10 years could get $70,000. Workers will also have the option of transferring to another GM facility if and when openings occur.
