Chevrolet unveiled its new Cruze to the press Wednesday, September 24, 2008 at the Paris Auto Show. Expected to get close to 40 miles-per-gallon, the Cruze hits the European market next March. Production for U.S. sales will begin in 2010.

An industry analyst said he thinks it is likely that General Motors has postponed the launch of the Chevrolet Cruze from Lordstown.

John Wolkonowicz. an analyst with IHS Global Insight in Massachusetts said he is highly certain in reports he has received that GM has delayed the launch of the Cruze at least six months. He thinks GM will review the Cruze launch at that time. Assembly of the car in Lordstown had been scheduled to start in the summer of 2010.

Wolkonowicz said a delay would help GM save money as it tries to avoid having to file for bankruptcy protection.

Business Week reported Thursday that its sources said the Cruze launch has been delayed until 2011.
