Charity auction to sell sports memorabilia

NEW MIDDLETOWN — Hearts for a Safe Harbor, a local charitable nonprofit organization, plans a benefit auction featuring autographed sports memorabilia on Nov. 15 at St. Paul the Apostle Church Hall on Route 170, New Middletown.

Special guest Ray “Boom Boom” Mancini will be available for autographs during a Chinese auction. Doors open at 6:15 p.m. Tickets cost $10 at the door and autographs cost $10 each. The main door ticket price includes a chance to win a signed sports memorabilia item signed by Jim Tressel. Food is also included in the price. Call (330) 533-6027 for more information.

All proceeds will go to the Safe Harbor Youth Counseling Program in Gulu, Uganda, helping youths who are either ex-child soldiers or have been traumatized by the country’s 22-year war.
