Youngstown historical center offers genealogy workshops

YOUNGSTOWN — The Archives/Library of the Youngstown Historical Center is offering two workshops Saturday at their site, 151 Wood St.

Participants in the Intro to Genealogy workshop, 10 a.m. to noon, will discuss basic research methods and tools and become familiar with the resources available at the Youngstown Historical Center Archives/Library.

This introduction to family history research will include vital statistics, census records, court records and newspapers, as well as local resources. There will be opportunity for hands-on experience and networking. Fee for this workshop is $10 for OHS members and $15 for nonmembers.

Participants in the Preservation Basics for Your Family Photos & Heirlooms workshop, 1:30-3:30 p.m., will discuss environmental factors, storage and display options and best practices for safe, long-term preservation.
