CHESTER, W.Va. — Two Polish polka bands will be featured in a Polkafest at Mountaineer Casino, Racetrack & Resort on Nov. 16.
The John Gora Band and the Polka Family Band will perform from 2 to 6 p.m. in Mountaineer’s Grande Ballroom.
The John Gora Band was recognized by the International Polka Association and won awards for CD of the Year for their current recording, “Bulletproof Polkas,” and IPA Song of the Year for “Kiss of Fire.”
The Polka Family Band has had three recordings — “Fiddle Faddle,” “We Are Family” and “Polka Music Fan” — nominated for Grammy Awards.
The band was invited twice to perform at Carnegie Hall’s Folk Festival and to appear on “Polka Passion,” a nationally televised documentary-concert on PBS.
Tickets are $15 and may be purchased at the door.
