Firefighters: Electrical short caused blaze
staff report
SHARPSVILLE, Pa. — South Pymatuning Township firefighters said an electrical short circuit caused a fire that extensively damaged the home of Doris Pershka, 2866 Hunter St.
Pershka wasn’t home when the fire was discovered shortly before 10:30 a.m. Tuesday. She was volunteering as a food server at an area church, firefighters said.
The blaze started in wiring that, at one time, had led to a front porch light. The porch and light were removed after being damaged in a July storm, firefighters said.
The fire burned up into the second floor and through the roof, leaving the house uninhabitable, firefighters said. No damage estimate was available. Firefighters said the house was insured.
