The Youngstown Police Department has dedicated an office to scrap metal theft investigation since August 2006. The following are details relating to investigations and arrest in that office:

Made more than 238 arrest, with 50 involving felony charges.

Enforce the city’s “Unauthorized Use” ordinances.

Assisted other law enforcement organizations in and out of the state with scrap metal theft investigations.
