Bagnolese Club marks anniversary with dinner, dance

YOUNGSTOWN — The 70th anniversary of the founding of the Ladies Bagnolese Club was celebrated Oct. 26 during a dinner and dance at the social hall of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church.

The guest speaker for the evening was Monsignor Michael J. Cariglio Jr.

The organization was formed by 42 Bagnolese women, who met in November of 1938 at a storeroom on Carlton Street in Smoky Hollow to maintain traditions and friendships.

One of the founders, Fedlia Trotto, is still a member of the club. Many of the members emigrated from Bagnoli del Trigno, Province of Isernia, Italy, and settled in the Smoky Hollow area.

In charge of the anniversary event were the club officers, Virginia Pallotta, president; Patty Marion, vice president; Maryrose Hart, secretary; Mary Jo Norris, treasurer; Trotto and Dorothy Rossi, trustees; and Ida Rossi, historian. They were assisted by Anita Ward, Katelynn Ward, Rosemary Colaizzi, Melanie Angiuli and Carol Schweizer.

Musical entertainment was provided by John Gabriele.
