FBI, local authorities continue search for robbers of Lordstown credit union

LORDSTOWN — The FBI, U.S. Marshal’s Service and local authorities continue their investigation into the robbery at Cavalier Federal Credit Union, 2255 Salt Springs Road.

John Stoll, a supervisory special agent with the FBI in Youngstown, confirmed that the robbery took place at about 3:20 p.m. today, but he would not confirm information from police radio calls that three men in a white pickup truck were suspects.

In addition to federal authorities, Lordstown police and investigators with the Trumbull County Sheriff’s Department were working on the case, Stoll said.

Ernie Cook, chief deputy with the Trumbull County Sheriff’s Department, said area police were notified to be on the lookout for a white pickup truck containing three men.

The credit union is located in a sparsely populated area between Bailey Road and Tod Avenue.

Other information on the robbery was not available late tonight. As of press time, no arrests were made.
