AMERICAN LEAGUE

Yankees 12, Mariners 6

NEW YORK — Mike Mussina survived five shaky innings before turning it over to Joba Chamberlain and a reshaped bullpen, giving New York its four-game winning streak of the season. Jason Giambi hit a three-run homer and Bobby Abreu added a two-run shot for the Yankees. Abreu finished with four RBIs, and Robinson Cano went 4-for-4 and matched a career-high with three doubles.

Blue Jays 6, Royals 0

TORONTO — Jesse Litsch pitched a seven-hitter for his first career complete game and Brad Wilkerson hit a grand slam as Toronto extended Kansas City’s losing streak to six. Litsch (6-1) struck out three, walked one and won his fourth straight decision. Kansas City was shut out for the sixth time this season — tied for second in the major leagues behind Detroit’s seven.

Angels 2, White Sox 0

CHICAGO — Jered Weaver pitched three-hit ball over eight innings and Vladimir Guerrero hit a go-ahead home run in the sixth. Weaver (4-5) struck out six, walked two and improved to 3-0 with an 0.34 ERA in four career starts against the White Sox. Francisco Rodriguez pitched a perfect ninth for his major league-leading 21st save in 22 changes.

Rays 11, Orioles 4

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — Evan Longoria homered twice and had six RBIs to lead the Rays past the Orioles. It was Longoria’s first career multi-homer game. The rookie hit a three-run shot during a four-run first, and had a two-run drive in a five-run second. He also hit a fourth-inning sacrifice fly.

Tigers 19, Twins 3

DETROIT — Magglio Ordonez homered twice and drove in six runs for Detroit. Ordonez hit a two-run homer to left in the first inning, then doubled in two runners during a four-run third that gave the Tigers the lead for good. He added a two-run shot in a six-run fourth. The six RBIs matched his career high.

NATIONAL LEAGUE

Mets 9, Rockies 2

DENVER — With Willie Randolph under pressure, New York ended its five-game skid. David Wright hit his ninth homer of the season, and Carlos Beltran had a three-run double as part of a five-run first. Nick Evans, making his major league debut, had three doubles and two RBIs and Claudio Vargas pitched seven solid innings.

Braves 3, Diamondbacks 1

ATLANTA — Jeff Francoeur hit a game-ending, two-run homer off Chad Qualls in the ninth inning, and the Braves overcame a 10-strikeout performance by Randy Johnson. Johnson reached double-digits in strikeouts for the first time since May 20 last year against Pittsburgh and the 210th time overall, five behind Nolan Ryan’s record.

Brewers 5, Nationals 2

WASHINGTON — Seth McClung was victorious in his first start in almost two years and Corey Hart and Mike Cameron homered for Milwaukee. Replacing ineffective Carlos Villanueva in the rotation, McClung (2-1) allowed two runs and four hits over five innings.

Astros 4, Phillies 3

HOUSTON — Carlos Lee drove in three runs and the Houston Astros turned a dramatic double play to secure the victory. The Phillies loaded the bases off Doug Brocail with one out in the ninth inning. Shane Victorino flew out to Darin Erstad in left and Erstad threw a perfect throw to catcher Brad Ausmus, who tagged out Pedro Feliz at the plate.
