Jameson Junior Guild donates pledge funds, seats officers

NEW CASTLE, Pa. — The May 20 meeting of Jameson Junior Guild featured the presentation of a of a pledge payment of $300,000 to Jameson Memorial Hospital.

Accepting the contribution was Thomas White, chief executive officer at the hospital, who announced that since 1939, the guild has raised $6,141,835 for the hospital.

Following the presentation, guild officers for 2008-2009 were installed by Diana Whittaker, guild member, who gave each incoming officer a symbolic building block.

Inducted were: Margery Weyrick, president; Eleanor Boyles, vice president; Karen Sanders, recording secretary; Pat Robison, corresponding secretary; and Thelma Turner, treasurer.

Shirley McMillan, outgoing president, received a gift in recognition of her two years of service.

During the past year, guild members volunteered a total of 23,034 hours of service. Recognized for contributing more than 1000 hours of service were three guild members, Eleanor Dachko, Jean Kaba and Norma Vranges. Those who volunteered 350 hours were Boyles, Sara Brest, Janet Burkholder, Laura Crawford, Ida Davis, Rita Flamino, Shirley McMillan, Lucille Pazak, Ruth Ray, Patricia Steinbrink and Weyrick.

The guild will begin its fall season with a meeting on Sept. 29 at the hospital cafeteria.
