County medical alliance installs slate of officers


POLAND — The home of Susan Yarab was the setting May 8 for a luncheon and meeting of Mahoning County Medical Society Alliance, during which Lynee Aiad-Toss was installed as president.

Also inducted by Diana Gilliotte, president of Ohio State Medical Association, were: Paula Jakubec, president-elect; Cassi Calderon, vice president; Patty Schwendeman, corresponding secretary; Karen Kuppler, treasurer; and Shelly Barton, recording secretary.

Background

Aiad-Toss, who received a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Kent State University, has been a member of the alliance since 2002. She has served on various committees and co-chaired the organization’s charity fashion show and its art auction. Her plans for the current year include charitable activities for the Children’s Museum of the Valley.

A past president of the Junior League of Youngstown, she is also past vice president of the Children’s Museum of the Valley, where she co-chaired the Halloween Spooktacular. She was a nominee of the 40 under 40 Award of the MVP/30.

Aiad-Toss, a graduate/class coordinator of the Leadership Mahoning Valley of 2005, has served on the Youngstown State University Penguin Parade committee, chaired the YSU Relay for Life activity committee, was a troop leader with Girl Scouts Lake to River and has chaired various committees for St. Charles Home and School Association.

Aiad-Toss lives in Poland with her husband, Dr. Albert Aiad-Toss, and their daughters, Kristina, Angelina and Nicolina.

Other business

During the meeting, clothing was collected for the Rape Crisis Center, and a check for $5,500 raised at the alliance charity fashion show on Feb. 28, was presented to Judge Theresa Dellick for the Mahoning County Juvenile Justice Center.

The Alliance was founded in 1940 and is a nonprofit organization dedicated to protecting public health, promoting health education and supporting the Medical Society.
