Laurel teacher sickened after eating suspected tainted food

NEW CASTLE — A 24-year-old Laurel High School teacher became ill and sought treatment after eating food provided to her by a male student on Thursday, according to the Pennsylvania State Police. The food, possibly laced with a narcotic, will be tested, police said today. The teacher believed the food had been prepared in a home economics class. Police said charges are pending.
