Youngstown police seek shooter, charge caller who had loaded gun

A witness to the shooting was arrested.

YOUNGSTOWN — Youngstown police are looking for the man responsible for wounding another man in a drive-by shooting Sunday afternoon.

Officers were sent to 117 E. Avondale Ave. just before 4 p.m. There they found an unconscious 18-year-old Terrell Roland lying in the driveway with two gunshot wounds to his stomach.

Roland lives at the Avondale address. He was taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center where he was listed in critical condition Sunday night.

Mickele Glenn, 18, of Southern Boulevard, told police he was standing in the driveway with Roland when a black four-door Buick Regal rolled past the house and the driver fired two shots out of the front window. He called police when he realized Roland had been shot.

Glenn told police he knows the shooter and offered police an address to where the man lives. Officers went to the house, but were told the man was not home.

According to police reports, Glenn, who was found to be wearing a bulletproof vest, later told police that he was carrying a loaded firearm when taken to the police station for questioning. He said the gun had been left inside the police cruiser.

An officer driving the car used to transport Glenn found a loaded handgun under the seat of the cruiser along with additional bullets for the gun.

Glenn was charged with felony carrying a concealed weapon. He is being held in the Mahoning County Jail.
