MERCER COUNTY Sentencings

Several people received jail sentences or were given probation last week by judges in Mercer County Common Pleas Court:

Lisa Dorus, 42, of Farkas Road, West Middlesex, placed on five years’ probation for two counts of retail theft. On April 14, 2007, she stole $229 worth of crab legs, steaks and a ham from Giant Eagle, 2365 E. State St., Hermitage. Then on May 10, 2007, she stole $120 worth of meat from Farrell Golden Dawn, 827 Sharon-New Castle Road, Farrell. Both counts are felonies because they are her third or subsequent offense.

James Daniel /David Gilkey, 19, of Minner Road, West Middlesex, sentenced to two to five years in prison for felony burglary and a misdemeanor count of indecent assault. He entered a Kirkland Drive, Lackawannock Township, woman’s residence Feb. 9, 2007, and touched and rubbed her as she slept.

Benjamin Pietrantonio, 19, of Victoria Drive, Hermitage, sentenced to two years in jail for recklessly endangering another person followed by five years’ probation for terroristic threats, both misdemeanors. On June 15, 2007, he brandished a loaded .38-caliber revolver in front of six other people at Liberty Street and Alderman Avenue, Sharon.

Sidney Walker, 50, of White Oak, Pa., placed on five years’ probation for receiving stolen property, a misdemeanor. Walker stole $18,000 from the First Baptist Church, 1120 Darr Ave., Farrell, where he was pastor. He was ordered to make restitution, to give up his pastorate at the church, and to hold no position of financial responsibility for any organization.

Samuel Wareham, 19, of Bradley Road, Stoneboro, placed on a one-year probation for possession of a weapon on school property, a misdemeanor. Wareham had a loaded rifle in his unlocked truck in the student parking lot at Lakeview Middle/High School, 2482 Mercer St., Sandy Lake Township on March 10, 2007. Police were called to the school after Wareham told another student during an argument that he had a loaded rifle in his truck. Wareham surrendered the firearm to police when they arrived and told them he had left it in the vehicle after hunting for groundhogs the night before.

Mark Hayward, formerly of Karnes City, Pa., and now of the Mercer County Jail, sentenced to six to 12 months in jail for terroristic threats, simple assault, and harassment, all misdemeanors and disorderly conduct, a summary offense. Hayward confronted his wife with a knife June 10, 2007, as she left work at Grove City Prime Outlets, Springfield Township. He burned a photograph in front of her, leaned on the car trunk to prevent her from leaving and unscrewed an antenna and pointed it at her.

Keith Brooks, 37, of West Lacock Street, Sandy Lake, placed on five years’ probation for two felony counts of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance. Brooks sold one gram oxycodone June 8, 2006, and 1.3 grams June 15, 2006, on Triple Link Road, Sandy Lake Township.

Brenda Cook, 43, of Emerson Avenue, Farrell, placed on one year’s probation for receiving stolen property, a misdemeanor. Cook was apprehended Sept. 30, 2006, at Wal-Mart, 1275 N. Hermitage Road, Hermitage, trying to make a purchase with a stolen credit card.

Jebediah Cook, 27, of Sunset Avenue, Grove City, placed on one year’s probation and ordered to make restitution for criminal mischief and simple assault, both misdemeanors. Cook used a metal can opener to puncture tires on two vehicles parked on Sunset Avenue, Grove City, on Nov. 30, 2006, causing more than $500 damage. He also struck a woman, threw her on the ground and choked her at a Pine Top Drive, Pine Township, residence Sept. 16, 2006.

Robert Lesheski, 46, of Grapevine Road, Mercer, sentenced to 30 days to one year in jail for fleeing and eluding law enforcement, a misdemeanor, and two traffic offenses, driving during suspension and careless driving. Lesheski lead deputy sheriffs on a chase through the borough of Mercer and other areas June 8, 2007.

Stephen Lonesome, 46, of Sherman Avenue, Sharon, placed on two years’ probation for simple assault and receiving stolen property, both misdemeanors. On June 6, 2007, he threatened a woman during an argument while loading ammunition for a semiautomatic pistol, and also struck her in the mouth. The pistol and ammunition had been stolen. The incident occurred at a South Oakland Avenue, Sharon, address.

Travis Pratt, 20, of South Broad Street, Grove City, placed on one year’s probation, given 21 days credit for time served and ordered to make restitution for theft by unlawful taking, a misdemeanor. He withdrew $362 from a bank using another person’s debit card.

Jason Sposito, 28, of Park Avenue, Farrell, placed on two years’ probation for misdemeanor retail theft. He stole a $220 electric razor from Macy’s, 3515 E. State St., Hermitage, on June 9, 2007.

Brice Hilton, 20, of Fleetwood Court, Wheatland, re-sentenced to 18 days to one year in jail for theft by unlawful taking, a misdemeanor. Hilton had been placed on one year’s probation Oct. 10, 2007, for illegally entering a Chestnut Street, Wheatland, property in August 2007. His probation was revoked because he never signed up for probation or maintained regular contact with the supervision staff.
