Rodef Sholom Sisterhood plans annual luncheon

YOUNGSTOWN — Rodef Sholom Sisterhood’s annual Donor Luncheon will take place at noon May 12 at the Youngstown Club, Commerce Building, 201 E. Commerce St.

After the lunch, a concert will feature James McClellan, who has appeared in several area productions, most recently as The Beast in Easy Street’s production of “Beauty and the Beast” at Powers Auditorium. He and his brother and sister appeared in concert at the DeYor Center.

Reservations can be made by sending a check for $16, payable to Rodef Sholom Sisterhood, to Congregation Rodef Sholom, 1119 Elm St., Youngstown, OH 44505, by May 5.

Style and Creativity Show sponsored by sewing guild

CANFIELD — Niles Chapter of the American Sewing Guild has planned its sixth annual Spring Extravaganza Style and Creativity Show from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 26 at A La Cart Catering, 429 Lisbon St.

The Bernina Store, Designers Two and the Viking-White Sewing Center will man booths at the show and will present demonstrations.

Admission of $15 for members and $20 for nonmembers will include a luncheon. Reservations are due April 12 by calling (330) 847-8757.

Three events planned by Niles SCOPE

NILES — Starting April 7, Niles SCOPE Senior Center, 14 E. State St., will offer computer classes from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. each Monday through May 12 at the McKinley House Computer Lab.

The cost is $10 for SCOPE members and $15 for nonmembers.

On April 9, a lunch will be served at 11:30 a.m. at the center followed by a free presentation on the benefits and pitfalls of a reverse mortgage from noon to 12:30 p.m. The cost for the lunch is $5, and reservations are required by calling the center.

The third event will be lunch and a concert by the Warren Concert Band, directed by Paul Rossi, on April 16 at the center. The V.I.P. lunch will be served at 11:30 a.m. in celebration of April birthdays, and the free concert will follow. Bingo will be played after the concert. Luncheon reservations are required and are $5 for members and $6 for nonmembers.

Dinner at Sacred Heart

YOUNGSTOWN — A Swiss steak dinner will be served from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish Hall, 702 Cameron Ave.

The menu includes gravy, potatoes, vegetable, tossed salad, coffee or tea, and assorted desserts.

Historical society plans dinner and concert

MERCER, Pa. — Mercer County Historical Society, 119 S. Pitt St., is inviting the public to an annual dinner and a concert by the MCHS Chamber Players on April 20.

The dinner of stuffed chicken breast, potatoes, vegetable, salad, dessert and beverage (vegetarian selections available) will be served in the social hall at the Helen Black Miller Memorial Chapel. Officers will be elected at a brief business meeting.

Afterward guests will meet in the sanctuary, where Frank Stearns will direct the Chamber Players in a concert, with special selections by Anna Priscilla Rischer, music teacher, and solos by Nora Drake. A cookie and punch reception will follow.
