Poland Furniture preps for liquidation sale

BOARDMAN — Brad Schumer just smiled and shrugged when asked why he was closing Poland Furniture & Accessories.

“We’re just going to take a different path in our lives,” said Schumer, 52, of Poland, who owns the store with his sister, Margie Brady.

Schumer said the closing of the Boardman-Poland Road store has nothing to do with sales or with the area economy.

“There’s nothing behind it really. It’s just time to move on,” he said.

The store was closed for three days to prepare for the liquidation sale that started today. Crowds that flocking into the store saw tags on the furniture with prices that had been crossed out. Sales representatives were busy trying to keep up with customers who wanted more information.
