SteelHounds win shootout, finish third
YOUNGSTOWN — Ryan Bennett’s second goal of the game and sixth in four days sent the Youngstown SteelHounds to overtime against the Colorado Eagles.
Then in a shootout, Jason Baird and Chris Richards scored for the SteelHounds while goaltender Andy Franck stopped four of the Eagles’ five attempts to give Youngstown a 3-2 win.
Combined with the Texas Brahmas’ loss to Austin, the SteelHounds’ win moves them into the third seed in the Central Hockey League’s Northern Conference. Their first-round opponent will be Colorado in a best-of-seven series that begins later in the week.
