Apple negotiates with labels over iTunes deal

SAN FRANCISCO — Apple Inc. is negotiating with record labels over a deal to give iPhone and iPod customers free access to the entire iTunes music library if they pay extra for the devices. The Financial Times is reporting that the sticking point in the talks is how much Cupertino-based Apple will pay the record labels for the access. The newspaper cites unnamed music industry sources for Wednesday’s report.

Speaker at YSU to discuss worker rights in China

YOUNGSTOWN — Katie Quan, director of the Henning Center for International Labor Relations at the University of California at Berkeley will give a public lecture at 7:30 p.m. today in the Ohio Room of Kilcawley Center at Youngstown State University. The presentation, titled “The China Labor Conundrum: Engage or Sanctions,” will focus on the status of worker rights in China. The program is sponsored by the Center for Working-Class Studies at YSU.

Parker’s Frozen Custard plans ribbon-cutting

BOARDMAN — Parker’s Frozen Custard will have a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 10 a.m. Friday at its new location at 813 Boardman-Poland Road. In 2002, a group of local investors bought Parker’s, which used to operate near Idora Park. The new company uses the original equipment, recipes and methods used by Sarah Parker when she opened the original store on Glenwood Avenue in 1936.

Shareholders approve merger for FNB, Omega

HERMITAGE, Pa. — F.N.B. Corp. said its shareholders and those of Omega Financial Corp. have approved the merger of the companies. Hermitage-based F.N.B. is acquiring Omega by giving its shareholders 2.022 shares of F.N.B. stock for each stock they own. Omega is a banking company based in State College, Pa. The acquisition has been approved by regulators and is expected to close April 1.
