Meeting Wednesday, village officials handled these matters:

Passed a resolution to enter into an agreement with Murphy Lewis Consultants of Niles, for $75 an hour, to train police officers, firefighters and other employees regarding a drug-free workplace. Being in compliance will allow the village to qualify with the Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation for savings on annual premiums, explained William Roux, solicitor. The village will be reimbursed by the state for three-fourths of the total cost once training is completed.

Announced a spring cleanup day, set for 9 a.m. to noon April 26. Duties to be performed will include planting flowers, cleaning litter and removing debris from roads, Councilman Richard Harvey said. Officials passed a motion by Harvey, who also heads council’s parks and buildings committee, to advertise for a summer park program supervisor.

Swore in Rocco Tondo to serve a second four-year term as fiscal officer. Tondo was appointed to the post in March 2003.

Announced that the village’s Web site is operational. For government postings and other related information, go to www.mcdonaldvillage.com.
