Winter weather conditions in Youngstown

Youngstown State University

YOUNGSTOWN — Due to weather, Youngstown State University has announced:

Maag Library , service will not be available Saturday.

The following events will not be held due to the weather:

Community center closes in Salem

SALEM — The Salem Community Center and Center Circle, its soccer facility, have closed as of 3 p.m. Friday. Both operations are expected to reopen at 8 a.m. Saturday, weather permitting.

Kent State closes, cancels activities

SALEM — The Salem campus of Kent State University announced it was

closing at 3 p.m. today.

All activities were canceled for the rest of the day.

All activities scheduled for Saturday have also been canceled.

Libraries closed today and Saturday

YOUNGSTOWN — The Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County closed its libraries at 3:30 p.m. Friday, March 7, because of the snow storm.

The libraries will remain closed Saturday, March 8.

Liberty Township bans on-street parking because of snow

LIBERTY — Township officials have issued an emergency parking ban. Township officials are requesting that all parked vehicles be removed from township streets while snow removal is taking place. The parking ban begins at 6 p.m. today and will end at 6 a.m. Sunday.

Bazetta bans on-street parking due to snow

BAZETTA — The Bazetta Township Board Trustees has declared a snow-emergency parking ban and is prohibiting parking on any township street or highway during this snow storm. The snow emergency will remain indefinitely.

Austintown Library’s teen library program canceled

AUSTINTOWN — The “Teen Tech Week After-Hours Gaming Party” scheduled for 6 p.m. Friday March 7 at Austintown Library has been canceled due to weather.

Tutoring program canceled

YOUNGSTOWN — The tutoring program for Saturday, March 8, at the Choffin Career & Technical Center has been canceled due to the weather.

Snow ban in Youngstown

YOUNGSTOWN — The city has declared a snow emergency effective 3 a.m. Saturday. It will remain in effect until further notice. During a snow emergency, parking isn’t permitted on streets except those with a width of 25 feet or less and with no driveway facilities. Any vehicle parked in violation of the emergency will be subject to removal by towing at the owner’s expense.

Warren-Trumbull library closes

WARREN — The Warren-Trumbull County Public Library has closed as of 4 p.m. today and will remain closed all day Saturday. The closing affects the main library in Warren as well as branch locations in Brookfield, Cortland, Howland, Liberty, and Lordstown. Bookmobile and homebound services are also closed.

Cortland parking ban

CORTLAND — City officials have declared a snow emergency here. Officials are requesting that residents, in light of hazardous driving conditions created by heavy snowfall, refrain from parking on city streets. The parking ban will remain in place until the winter storm advisory has been lifted.

No Mountaineer horses tonight

CHESTER, W. VA. — Live thoroughbred racing at Mountaineer Casino, Racetrack and Resort has been canceled for tonight, March 7, due to pending weather. All other aspects of the casino remain open and operational, including simulcasting.

Parking ban in Warren

WARREN — Warren has a no parking ban on city streets until further notice, the city’s safety-service director said.
