Show biz youth camp at Playhouse

YOUNGSTOWN — The Youngstown Playhouse Youth Theatre is launching a new summer workshop program titled Camp Show Biz, for students in grades 1 through 12. Camp Show Biz will offer a weeklong series of classes July 7-11. The classes are:

UCreative Drama and Disney, grades 1- 3; Stephanie Ottey, instructor.

UCamp Rock, grades 4-6, based on the current hit television show; Joseph Monda Jr., instructor.

UActing: The Basics and Beyond, grades 7-12, an intense workshop; Shawn Lockaton, instructor.

Also new this summer is Build-a-Show, a four-week production workshop, beginning July 14. It will allow students in grades 1-6 to participate in the entire experience of mounting a play. The workshop will culminate in a production of “Winnie the Pooh,” performed for the public. Lockaton is the director and primary instructor for the new workshop, which will become an annual fixture on the Youth Theatre calendar.

Wrestling show coming to The Wedge Nightclub

AUSTINTOWN — Championship Wrestling Experience will present Culmination 2, a wrestling show, July 18 at The Wedge Nightclub, in the Wedgewood Plaza on Raccoon Road. The main event will feature a three-way battle for the CWE title between Johnny Gargano, Shiima Xion and Josh Prohibition.

The undercard will include a bout between Jerry Lynn and Justin Credible, who will settle their rivalry in an “extreme rules” contest. Oher matches include Raymond Rowe vs. “The Deviant” Michael Hutter; The Franchise Players, LA Gunz, Straight Jacket Mafia, and Iron Justice clash in an eight-man tag match; and Cristian Faith with long-time partner Vincent Nothing in a tag-team competition.

General admission tickets are available at the door for $15. Advance general admission tickets are available at Havana House, 5801 Youngstown-Warren Road, Niles, for $12. Doors open at 6 p.m. All ages are welcome.

Temptations, Four Tops coming to Mountaineer

CHESTER, W.Va. — Two Motown legends — The Temptations and The Four Tops — will take the stage at The Harv, at Mountaineer Casino, Racetrack and Resort at 7:30 p.m. July 10.

Tickets range from $20 to $60, and are available at Ticketmaster locations.

Salem Italian Festival

SALEM — The inaugural Salem Italian Festival will be Aug. 14 and 15 on Pershing Avenue, between Lincoln Avenue and Broadway. Hours will be 5-11 p.m. Aug. 14, and noon to 11 p.m. Aug. 15.

The main entertainment area will be the city parking lot on Pershing Avenue, across from Timberlanes. Italian bands, a Dean Martin impersonator, pageants, contests, a boccie tournament and Italian food will be featured.

Charity softball game

NILES — The Hope Foundation of the Mahoning Valley will present the Softball Game of Hope at 4 p.m. Aug. 16 at Eastwood Field. The teams will comprise community leaders and local celebrities, pitting Mahoning County against Trumbull County. Proceeds will support chronically and terminally ill children in the Mahoning Valley.

The Mahoning Valley Scrap-pers will play the Jamestown Jammers afterward. Tickets are $7 for both games. For more, go to thegameofhope.com.

Movies in the park

EAST PALESTINE — The weekly movie night program begins Thursday, and will continue every Thursday through July 28 in the gazebo area of the city park. The program, sponsored by East Palestine Rotary and local merchants, will feature films on a big screen at 7:30 p.m. If it rains, the movie will be at 7:30 p.m. the following Sunday.
