McDonald gears up for its annual Homecoming

McDONALD — The 75th annual Homecoming sponsored by the McDonald Volunteer Fire Department Social Organization will be Wednesday through Saturday on the village green.

The parade down Ohio Avenue starts at 6 p.m. Rides by Brown Amusements and concessions are from 6 to 11 p.m. Bingo will be from 7:15 to 11 p.m. at the Ramsay Pavilion.

The McDonald Performing Arts Center Dance Show will be at the basketball courts immediately after the parade at 6:30 p.m.

Activities Thursday will include Wristband Night, when patrons who buy a wristband of tickets can ride all night. The tickets are on sale in advance for $5 a sleeve of four tickets, and advance ticket holders can ride for one ticket per ride. Advance tickets can be obtained at the municipal building, Ianazone’s Pizza, McDonald Community Federal Credit Union and Steve’s Service.

Rides and concessions will be open from 6 to 11 p.m., and bingo games will be from 7 to 11 p.m.

Activities Friday include a free pancake breakfast from 8 to 10 a.m. and games of all ages. Games will be held at the south end of the tennis courts.

Immediately after the games, free ice cream will be provided by the fire department’s social organization. Winners of the John Pete Checker Tournament held annually will be announced at the pancake breakfast Friday morning.

Events Saturday include rides and concessions from 6 to 11 p.m., bingo from 7 to 11 p.m. and fireworks by the Zambelli Co. at 11 p.m.

Those attending homecoming activities are asked to remember that no pets or bicycles are permitted on festival grounds.
