EAST LIVERPOOL — St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, 220 East Fourth Street, invites all members of the public to a free soup and sandwich lunch from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. today. Croatian Union lodges schedule traditional picnic

VIENNA TOWNSHIP — United Croatian Fraternal Union Lodges of the Mahoning and Shenango valleys are having a traditional picnic at noon Sunday at the Strossmayer Picnic Grounds for members, their families and area friends.

Available throughout the day will be homemade strudel, pastries, sandwiches, chicken, haluski and barbecued lamb and pork. Members are reminded that donations of food items for the event will be appreciated.

Tamburitzan musical entertainment will be provided by Veseljaci of Farrell, Pa.; Od Srca of Youngstown; Sv. Nikola Ansambl of Ambridge, Pa.; Penn Sembles of Versailles, Pa.; and the Happy Hearts Jr. Tamburitzans of Youngstown. Also performing will be the Veseli Tamburitzans of Brookfield and guest vocalists Tommy Yazvac and Rose Husnick.

The official welcome will be given by CFU vice president, Joseph Brigich, and various lodges participating in the event will include Lodge 66 of Youngstown, Lodge 614 of Newton Falls, Lodge 126 of Farrell, Lodge 185 of Campbell, Lodge 598 of McDonald and Lodge 182 of Warren.

Jameson Golf Classic to benefit children

NEW CASTLE, Pa. — The 16th annual Jameson Golf Classic will be July 21 at New Castle Country Club, 511 Country Club Drive, as the key fundraiser for Jameson Health Care Foundation.

Play will be a four-person scramble, beginning at 11 a.m. with a shotgun start and followed by a dinner and awards presentation.

A highlight will be a presentation by Jason Zuback, golf professional and Pinnacle Distance Challenge Team member, who will hit drives on No. 8 and give a long-drive and trick-shot exhibition. There will also be a ball drop from a helicopter provided by Stat MedEvac. Numbered golf balls will be sold for $20 each or six for $100, and balls landing in the cup will win the choice of $1,500 in pro shop merchandise or $1,000 cash.

Proceeds will benefit the Children’s Advocacy Center, anorganization of local professionals who address the investigation, prosecution and treatment of child abuse cases to prevent further victimization of children and to offer programs on their behalf.
