Rev. Macklin re-elected ministerial alliance leader

YOUNGSTOWN — The Rev. Lewis W. Macklin II, senior pastor of Holy Trinity Missionary Baptist Church, was re-elected president of the Interdenominational Ministerial Alliance of Youngstown and Vicinity for 2008-09. The Rev. Mr. Macklin most recently served as the co-convener of the Martin Luther King Planning Committee and the past president of the Baptist Pastors Council.

Other IMA officers are: the Rev. Henry McNeil of Alpha and Omega First Baptist Church, first vice president; the Rev. Julius T. Davis Jr. of Friendship Baptist Church in Girard, second vice president; the Rev. Robert Johnson of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, treasurer; Minister Lawrence Thomas of Faith Temple Baptist Church in Campbell, recording secretary; the Rev. Robert Offerdahl, native American Indians; and the Rev. Deborah Austin of St. James African Methodist Episcopal Church, chaplain.

The alliance welcomes licensed and/or ordained clergy and chaplains within the Youngstown and surrounding areas. Its mission is to strengthen the cause of Christ and ecumenical fellowship in a united effort for the good of human welfare, promote pastoral dignity and ethical fellowship with one another, cultivate and advance Christian principles and values among people of all ages, direct available resources toward relevant social issues and causes; to establish partnerships with faith-based and community organizations that work toward eradication of racial and social justices at home and abroad. The IMA does not restrict membership or participation based upon gender, race/ethnicity, political affiliation or Christian faith denomination.
