Friday, June 20, 2008

YOUNGSTOWN — The Youngstown Water Department recently mailed its customers a copy of a report that contains data on its water for 2007 as required by the federal Safe Drinking Water Act of 1996.

About 65,000 tests for contaminants are done on the water annually. No violations were found in 2007, according to the water department.

The city sells about 19 million gallons of water a day from the Mahoning Valley Sanitary District to residents of Youngstown, Austintown, Boardman, Canfield Township and city, North Jackson, Mineral Ridge, Girard and Liberty.

For further information or a copy of the report, contact the city water department’s engineering office at (330) 742-8765.
