Car wash and bake sale to benefit heart patient

Friday, June 20, 2008

CAMPBELL — The youth of Archangel Michael Greek Orthodox Church, 401 12th St., are sponsoring a “Have a Heart” car wash and bake sale from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 28 as a benefit for the family of Stavroula ‘Stacey’ Karavokiros, a 17-year-old girl from Kalymnos, Greece, who was born with a congenital heart disease.

Part of her family who are United State citizens, relocated to the states so Stacey, who has had several heart surgeries, a pace maker and a heart transplant, could receive proper care. Her father remained in Greece to run the small family business.

She received a second heart transplant but her condition has worsened and expenses have grown.

Archangel Michael Church, along with the community of Tarpon Springs, Fla., where she lives, are organizing various events to support this cause.
