Canfield dancer in program

COLUMBUS — Canfield resident Rosalyn Neddy, daughter of Mark and Aimee Neddy, is among about 100 young dancers who will travel to Columbus this summer to participate in the BalletMet Dance Center for dance students with professional aspirations. Participants qualify for the program through auditions and are given the opportunity to study at one of the top 15 professional dance companies in the country.

The program runs June 30 through July 25, with an additional week for the pre-professional program, the most advanced level.

Participants take classes at least five days each week. In addition to ballet technique, pointe and repertoire classes, they will study other disciplines including modern, jazz and character. They will also take part in enrichment courses in dance history, nutrition, music, yoga and acting.

Madison winery expands

MADISON — Debonn Vineyards, Ohio’s largest estate winery, will celebrate the grand opening of Cellar Rats Brewery on Saturday with tours of the new facility. The brewery will feature several brewed beers from around the country but will also feature its first release, Rat Trap Lager. This light lager was brewed April 22 and is a medium-bodied pre-prohibition style American lager. By the end of the month, Cellar Rats Brewery will release another flagship beer, Rat Tail Ale, a traditional, English-pub-style ale, with more hops flavor.

Cellar Rats beers are sold only on premises, but plans call for offering take-home growlers and sales to area restaurants.
